Examples of creativity in Tolkien's writings...Also is Frodo the Character that allows Tolkien to outpour his war experiences?

Our Quest

The last volume of the Lord of the Rings has to be the best. It is hard when reading for the first time to completely dictate this because the series itself is so livid and structured well. In its entirety there is such a flow which makes you want to keep reading. Even if you miss some of the key moments and topics through the literature and the literature and the words, the creativity is still quite livid. I have not read such creativity prior to reading Tolkien. Especially with his own words, his own languages, the way he create characters and describes the livid experiences and clashes

Tolkien created around 15 different languages over his life.

For this last volume the ending is quite fascinating. Through the entire story the ring has been a sort of curse from what I could interpret and holding onto it keeps you alive, without aging, for years but that does not always lead to anything great. Your friends and family age with you behind and it is not so good. But that is besides the point. Frodo at the last moment decides to keep the ring rather than finally being in charge of fully destroying once and forever. This is quite troubling! This is not the end though, as the story could continue from here. Regardless, Gollum attacks and bites Frodo's finger off completely with the ring on it. Then to make matters worse he falls into the lava from tripping. This is quite crazy turn of events which is hard to always grasp immediately. For this part I did attempt to reread it. At this time though Gollum was consumed by lava and the ring was consumed by lava, along with Frodo's finger. This is part of the never ending curse, more loss of life and a finger to get rid of it.

“But do you remember Gandalf’s words: Even Gollum may have something yet to do? But for him, Sam, I could not have destroyed the Ring. The Quest would have been in vain, even at the bitter end. So let us forgive him! For the Quest is achieved, and now all is over."

This is the capping at the end Frodo is discussing with Sam on their "quest" they set out to complete and go on. Similar to our quest in this course Frodo set out for one, and in the end he did not have the courage or want to complete it. Gollum completed it for him and Gandalf may have foreseen this. But, the quest is finally over.

I always love reading reflections and how characters could have changed ways things turned out and how they feel at the end how things could have been different but did not want to change them in the moment. But, then again this is just a novel story. It almost seems as if Tolkien feels guilty about something he may have left behind in the war. Was it all of his friends that died, that caused him to have Frodo's finger bit off at the end of the novel and thrown into the lave? The amount of times Frodo changed his mind about letting the ring go shows similarities to me where possibly Tolkien wanted to leave the war as he may have wanted to leave but, he had no way out so he stayed. Similarly, Frodo wanted to get rid of the ring but then he kept it and did not and moved forward until he was forced by Gollum and lost his finger in the process. Same with Tolkien, he was then forced to leave due to sickness he attained, but he left a piece of his heart back with all his friends who passed during the war and did not come back. He left his heart but came home with a full head of creativity and abilities to write like never before. He put all his ideas to paper and made some of the greatest pieces of work mankind has ever seen. That will always be his legacy while we will always speculate what the war's exact affect had on his writing. Regardless, it only enhanced it if anything and did not take away anything.
